9/5/2011 (Crossville, Tennessee) - This car is a project that has been painstakingly started with no detail overlooked. It is ready for you to finish and enjoy! This is NOT a basket case. Bid with confidence that you are buying a quality project with quality work completed that you WILL NOT need to redo as you complete it. You are bidding on the car in the condition shown in the pictures, as a body on rolling chassis. The car has always been stored indoors in a dry environment out of the weather.
Following is a list of work already done to the car, as well as many of the parts included. There are also MORE parts included that aren't listed here.
Body Modifications:
1963 VW sedan cloth sliding ragtop replacing the original roof.
All frame and removed parts were disassembled and sandblasted.
Body color in a 1990 GM Truck color, all parts were painted separately with a 2 stage base coat/clear coat and then assembled. Extra paint is included for finishing the fenders and the front end.
New Floor Pans welded in place.
1970 firewall replaced rusted sections in front of the doors.
All moldings and door handles shaved and filled.
Includes two (2), one-piece front ends hinged on a custom Stainless Steel mounting bracket. Street front end with OEM dimensions and a custom Bug Pack/Dee Engineering Race front end included.
FiberCraft 1 1/4 inch wider fiberglass rear fenders prepped for paint.
Headlight buckets also from FiberCraft (not installed).
One Piece California Windows (no more vent window)
Electric solenoid activated door opening system included (not installed).
Suspension Modifications:
Complete rebuild includes new bearings, tie rod ends, ball joints, Sway-a-way Polyurethane spring bushings etc. with stainless steel mounting hardware.
Parts sandblasted, detailed, and painted body color.
Front end is OEM width with adjustable upper and lower spring height.
Rear has been lowered via the rotation of the spring plates.
CV cages and axles cleaned with new boots installed. Mounting hardware zinc plated for durability and can be polished.
All rubber and soft pieces have been replaced with West Coast Metric pieces, other new pieces ready for install in boxes.
Drums redrilled for Porsche Mini-Mags from a 1971 Porsche 911 (included).
205/60/R15 BF Goodrich T/A tires.
Hand bent brake lines with new hardware, hydraulic brake solenoid installed on floor in front of driver.
New master cylinder, wheel cylinders, springs and brake pads installed.
Engine/Drivetrain:
1600 cc engine is disassembled and needs to be rebuilt. The engine has been stored indoors, but has a coating of surface rust.
Includes rebuild-able trans axle, although already rebuilt units are often more economical.
All engine tin and manifolds are painted body color and detailed.
Bosch alternator kit with stand, alternator, painted backing plate included.
New OEM wiring harness included with all crimped connections soldered for reliability.
Other:
Custom machine work on numerous parts to make them like new or better than new including the stainless steel front end hinge mechanism, wiper motor bushing with stainless steel and brass for durability and re-drilled drums for Porsche bolt pattern.
Other modifications include a removable steering wheel with mounting bracket for LeCarra steering wheel. This is a uniquely keyed part; no other has the same key.
OEM parts and pieces that were removed were saved. All electrical relays, switches, fresh air ducts, fuse panel etc. included.
OEM black seats included. Rear seats need reupholstering.
