1969 Marauder McLaren M6 Coupe - Denver, Colorado

by Renegade Enterprises
(Denver, Colorado, USA)

1969 Marauder McLaren M6 Coupe

1969 Marauder McLaren M6 Coupe

For sale is an unassembled Marauder McLaren 1969 M6 Coupe GT MK-VI Replica consisting of the fiberglass car body and steel box tubing frame. Everything else is up to the buyer's budget and imagination! This kit was purchased new a few years ago and has simply sat as an unstarted project since then.

Fiberglass body consists of the front, main and rear body pieces, as well as two doors, and two rear vent pieces. The fiberglass is 3/16" to 1/4" thick for a nice strong construction with a 1/16” grey gel-coat that lets you turn the finished body into any color you imagine. The body is made from the original molds by Specialized Mouldings, Ltd. (sic) of England that supplied McLaren Racing, so it is not a knockoff style (i.e., Tornado, Coyote, UVA, Manta, Mirage, Montage, etc.), and it has precise alignment.

Frame is steel box tubing, painted glossy-black, mainly 2-1/2" throughout, the substructure of a Monocque chassis. The .040" aluminum outer skin is not included and not attached; it will need to be cut and then applied. This frame-skinning fabrication process is not difficult but is somewhat time consuming, resulting in a phenomenal strength factor. Race cars are built in this manner for that reason.

Parts and guidance are readily available online and seller will point buyer in the right direction and will provide informational resources needed from project start to completion. Parts and materials budget after the initial kit purchase should probably be of the $20,000 to $40,000 magnitude, depending on your shopping penchants, bargaining ability, and product scarcity/availability. Time to complete is unknown and highly dependent upon builder experience and capability.

The end result? Only three or four originals were ever made per authoritative sources, and only two or three are known to exist today! One of these sold for $423,500 in 2006. Nicely done replicas routinely go for $150,000+/- on the rare occasions they come up for auction! Therefore, it will be easy to leverage your time to a 3:1 finished product to cost ratio, which is amazing for any collectible automobile. As importantly, Google the main terms and take a look at some finished McLaren 1969 M6s and you will see that they are stunning vehicles. They certainly drive like the Can-Am race cars they were designed from.

GT Reproductions (Active Power, Inc.) sell their M6-GTR for approximately $16,000, and it is not from the original molds/frame-design. I have priced this according to the last eBay sale a couple of years ago and the estimate of an expert in this type of motorcar.

This kit will ship from Denver, Colorado or is available for pickup. Shipping expense is estimated at the combined mileage rate for both the body and frame of $1.00 per mile. Car will fit onto a standard car trailer.
