What eventually transpired, however, was a huge controversy that drew worldwide attention and the ears of the United States Supreme Court. Details: The Bridgewater Festival of Lights is a free Christmas Light light display with an animated walk through village. What started out as a small personal home Christmas display has now become a major attraction in The Bridgewater, South Shore area of Massachusetts. Although it is not the largest or brightest it has the distinction of be able to walk through it and you can get close to the displays. If that's not enough, The Bridgewater and Hanson Lions Clubs come in on the weekends bringing Santa, Free Hot Coffee, Hot Chocolate, Popcorn and other goodies. When Santa is here you can get quality pictures for a small fee. Check out the events page to see which groups are coming and when.

The Colwell Opera House presents live entertainment, while Santa visits with the children. Drive through ticket $5.00 per car. Additional admission to enter the village or train. Lincolns Downtown Lighting Ceremony will be held between 6 and 8pm on the 25th. This wonderful experience can be found on 13th and O Street, or for more information.

Details: Whenever the locals think of holiday lights in Reno, they instantly think of Hidden Valley. Every year, Hidden Valley has their Parade of Lights. Several streets in Hidden Valley are festively decorated with Christmas lights and different displays. There are contests for the best displays and people who come and view the event can even get the chance to vote for their favorite decorated house. In past years, Hidden Valley has even worked with charities to bring in money for foster children. This event usually starts on December 12th and ends on December 31st.


New Hampshire

Details: Opened in the 1950s, the park has the perfect blend of authentic nostalgia and contemporary appeal. Most of the rides and shows, including Santa's Skyway Sleigh (a mini-monorail), the 3-D movie, "A Tinkerdoodle Christmas!" and the Merry Christmas Ferris Wheel, are operating, even when there is some snow on the ground. The park's great coasters won't be open, but you will be able to board the Tilt-A-Whirl, the Scrambler, and other selected rides. It'll be quite a sight to see riders, all bundled up in mittens and parkas, twirling on the Wave Swinger. Shows will include the musical, "Home Sweet Home For Christmas." Hershey also offers a drive-through holiday light display beginning November 14. Called Hershey Sweet Lights, it features 2 miles of trails with over 1 million lights on more than 500 animated tableaux.

DetailsThe Trail of Lights is a mile long display of 42 lighted scenes, US Post Office, Santa's House, the Yule Log, and an entertainment stage. The festival begins with the lighting of the Zilker Tree, a 155 feet tall, 180 feet diameter lighted tree consisting of 3,309 bulbs on 39 streamers strung from Austin's historical Moonlight Tower. Since 1987 the honor of lighting the tree has been bestowed upon the winner of the city-wide children's tree coloring contest. The tree lighting ceremony takes place on the first Sunday of December.
