Joe Namath in Munich, Germany

I was on a language club trip to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein in the spring of 1978 when a friend and I had jumped into an elevator with Joe Namath and his manager. He was there filming the movie "Avalanche Express". Joe was gracious enough to grant an autograph on a piece of hotel letterhead that was available in the elevator. Coincidentally, he was heading down to the hotel bar where our tour group was and the alcohol flowed freely courtesy of Joe. The next morning our tour bus was delayed from leaving the hotel reputedly because Mr. Namath had one of our female tour members in his room.
