Kirk Douglas - Onboard USS NIMITZ

In the winter of 1979 I was a mess specialist 2nd class on the USS NIMITZ. I was preparing the dinner meal in the chiefs mess, when the senior chief called me out to get autographs. Kirk Douglas was sitting down and signed his name to the sheet of paper I gave him. We were going to watch the first preview of the movie "The Final Countdown" that was filmed on the USS NIMITZ.
