My Friends Are Cooler Than Yours!

It was a freakish occurrence. The Midwest was going through a massive heat-wave. We were in desperate need of rain and I did not think anything could bring me out of the funk I was in. The highlight of the year was to be the Lady Antebellum concert that was coming to town. They are my favorite band and I had to get great tickets! I signed up for pre-sale tickets to get great seats and was pleased to find that I would not be so far removed from the action, thanks to the stage set-up in St. Louis.

I moved on with my day to day life, keeping the heat and the upcoming concert planted in my mind. The concert was to be on a Friday. The Monday prior, I received an e-mail that would lead to the most exciting thing ever to occur in my life. I had won the chance to go backstage and meet the trio before the concert!!

As instructed, I arrived early to get my backstage pass. After waiting in the 108 degree heat (yes, you read that right!), the lucky few made their way into a fenced off area and were treated to a Q&A session with the band. They were sweet and jovial and we had a fantastic time. As the nervousness and excitement began to calm, we were told that we would now get to have our pictures taken with the group. Butterflies reappeared in my stomach as I stepped into line and made my way forward. I did not even notice how frightful I must have looked, all sweaty from both the heat and anxiousness. When it was my turn, I stepped up and nervously said "Hi," then squeezed in between Charles and Hillary as we weaved our arms to fit into the shot. After the picture was taken, I thanked them and made my way to my seat. Of course, it was then that I remembered the question I wanted to ask them! Oh, well. It will wait until the next time they come to town.
