Mohammed Ali - Niles, MI

It was nearly a decade or more ago, but I remember it like it was yesterday. Myself and my 3 year old daughter, at the time, were stopping at the Burger King near downtown Niles. It was surprising to me when a extremely famous boxer walked in to get a coffee. Although I didn't want to bother him- and to tell the truth, I couldn't stop staring. When my daughter and I left the restaurant, I was having quite a time getting her situated in her carseat. So he(Mohammed Ali) also was in the parking lot getting ready to leave. He was with one other man who seemed to be a good friend of his. I then took my daughter out of the car and walked over to him, thinking that when she was older she would be very impressed by having met someone so wonderful. I shook his hand and introduced myself and my child. He was so gracious and polite. He patted my daughter on the head and wished us well. He was smiling the entire time, despite the difficulty he was having holding that cup of coffee. Because of his well known condition, he was shaking quite a bit. It makes me proud to have met such a legend- and makes for a wonderful story to tell my grandchildren one day:)
