Ray Lankford - St. Louis, Missouri

I didn't mind going to my outdoor job, even in the rain. Being a doggie day camp counselor was a lot of fun and very rewarding. I did, however, suffer one my most embarrassing moments there. The dogs were allowed to play outside if they behaved and if it wasn't raining. They were separated into three groups- small dogs, medium dogs, and large dogs. My favorites were the large dogs and I was known for playing hard with them. I would go home at the end of the day filthy, and wet because it was summer and they had a pool.
One day, it started raining while we were outside. We went into panic mode, getting our pampered, furry charges out of the rain. Once they were all safe in their kennels, it was up to the counselors to clean up. One unlucky counselor which, on this day was me, had to carry the bags of poop to the dumpster located in the parking lot. I carried them far away from my body (and nose!) as I walked, head down, to the dumpster. It was especially unpleasant this day because it had rained and the poop bucket had filled with water. Did I happen to mention someone thought it would be funny to buy clear trash bags? Anyway, I was mid way across the parking lot when I nearly ran into someone. I raised my head to excuse myself and sucked in my breath. It was Ray Lankford, outfielder for the St. Louis Cardinals. Luckily, I didn't drop the bag of poop on his shoes!Contest | Fun Stuff | Events | Classifieds | Attractions | Home | Privacy
