Ronald Reagan - State Capital in California

by Julie Serrano
(Riverside, CA USA)

When I was a young girl, my second grade class went on a field trip to the state capital (CA). During our guided tour, I had the urgent need to go to the bathroom, but couldn't get the guide or teachers attention.

Because I had kidney problems, when I had to go, I had to go now.

So I left the group in search of a bathroom. I wandered up and down the halls checking any open door I found. After a short time, I entered an unlocked door and walked into a meeting with several gentlemen. One of the men immediately asked me what I was doing there. I was too embarrassed to say I had to go to the bathroom out loud. Upon seeing my distress, the kind man asked me to whisper my answer in his ear. Smiling, he then called in another man and whispered in his ear to take me to a bathroom and then help me find and rejoin my classmates.

It wasn't until later in our tour when I saw a portrait of the nice man that I found out he was our Governor, Ronald Reagan.
