Children's Museum

Description: Educational and entertaining exhibits are the hallmark of this center. Included are a planetarium and a wildlife sanctuary made up of 30 animals, including a mountain lion, a chinchilla and bobcat. Star Station One, an exhibit that is charting the development of the International Space Station, is currently being built in outer space. A replica of the International Space Station is also being built in the Science Center. Special events are featured throughout the year.

Description: The museum is housed with the Connecticut State Library and the State Supreme Court. A monumental example of Beaux-Arts architecture. View artifacts of Connecticut's political, military and industrial history. This museum houses the state's original colonial charter and a vast collection of Samuel Colt firearms.

Description: The highlight of the exhibit gallery is the amazing reef featuring 30,000 corals, sharks and stingrays, along with a wide array of many colorful fish species. Take in the Institute for Exploration, a daily dolphin show, and the outdoor Beluga exhibit.

Description: Situated on a 147-acre peninsula, Greenwich Point (also called Tod's Point) is one of the largest beaches in the area. Locals and visitors alike enjoy the quiet surroundings in this Old Greenwich neighborhood. It is a favorite spot for many to spend a few hours each day jogging, fishing, wind surfing, and biking. Picnic areas with grills and great views of the New York skyline in the distance encourage guests to spend an entire afternoon on the relaxing beach. Town of Greenwich Park/Beach Pass required May - October.

Description: Housed in a Victorian mansion, this popular museum provides a number of informational exhibits and seminars. Children and adults alike will enjoy the educational films, local events, and lectures. The various exhibits on display give visitors a clear look at different aspects of nature, science, individual cultures, and marine life. The marine touch tank and the mineshaft are two of the most favored displays.

Description: A day at Byram Beach can be compared to a day in a luxurious resort. The beach is small and intimate and affords excellent views over Byram Harbor. Additional amenities provided that make this a local favorite are the in-ground swimming pool, the children's playground, three tennis courts and a picnic area. If the children get tired of playing in the pool and the ocean, the playground should keep them occupied for the rest of the afternoon. Town of Greenwich Park/Beach Pass required during peak months of May through October.

Description: Housed in Danbury's historic downtown railroad station and train yard, this unique museum allows guests to find out about the engaging past of railroading, including exhibits on railroad history, scale models and even exciting rail trips. The restored rail yard includes life-sized, authentic cars and engines, with over 50 different styles being represented. The museum also has a gift shop for visitors to pick up some unique and interesting railway memorabilia.


US Coast Guard Museum

Description: Celebrating America's maritime history, this museum on the grounds of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy showcases the ships, artistry, garb, and medals of seafaring and its related military service. In the collection are photographs, navigational tools, model ships, handcarved figureheads, and more. An additional attraction on the grounds of the Academy is the "Eagle," a tall ship claimed as a spoils of WWII. Visitors need a government issued photo identification to enter the campus.
