Twin Gardens Farms - Mirai Corn - Roselle, IL
by Len Buonincontro
(Roselle, IL)
Mirai Corn is Illinois born and bread. In some parts of the world, Mirai corn is considered a fruit! Is this Japanese corn? No. Mirai® (pronounced ME-rye) was developed in Harvard, Ill.
Mirai® is so tender that it requires hand picking. Commercial sweet corn growers in the US harvest with machines making Mirai® seed hard to market in the US. The seed was introduced to Japan because they have small farms where much of the work is still done by hand. The Japanese named it Mirai® meaning the "future is coming" and "taste". Today, Mirai® accounts for about 30% of the Japanese sweet corn market.
Miria is featured on WGN Radio 720 and highly acclaimed by Spike ODell. Our booths feature Grade A extra fancy Mirai Corn for sale by the Ear or 1/2 dz . Mirai is specially picked and packaged for your event or occasion 24 hours prior to your event . We can also feature it for sale by the ear with numerous condiments. So you can eat it now or take home a dozen.
